After taking groups to the Kokoda Track for 8 years, Healthy Teams has now expanded its adventure travel experiences to include other exciting adventure destinations such as The Overland Track and Franklin River in Tasmania's World Heritage Wilderness areas, as well as the Inca Trail and Amazon regions of Peru. We launched our new adventure travel arm - 'Free Spirit Adventures' in 2010. Please visit our Free Spirit Adventures website for more information.
In 2003 Healthy Teams started taking groups to the Kokoda Track for just such an experience. Since then we have been taking groups from all over Australia and New Zealand to the jungles of New Guinea.
Walking the historical Kokoda Track is more than just a physical challenge. It is a mental, emotional and spiritual journey for many and includes a unique insight into an inspiring culture and our military history. People come back bolder, more courageous and more grateful for what they have. Life is never the same after you've walked the Kokoda Track. Its a life changing wilderness experience.
Having taken 100's of people ranging in age from 15 to 74yrs on the journey so far; we've come to understand that anyone can do it with the right preparation and enjoy the experience. The biggest lesson we've learnt is that our perceived limits are self-imposed. Our unique preparation program prepares you mentally, physically and emotionally so that you get the most out of the experience and take away valuable lessons that have a positive impact on your personal and professional life.
Preparation Program includes:
We choose to limit our trips to a maximum of 4 each year and our group sizes are a maximum of 15 to minimise impact on the environment and villages and to maximise your experience and safety. Our guides are trained in wilderness first aid and remote area emergency response skills. Everyone of the 100's of individuals we have taken across the Kokoda Track so far, have completed the journey and enjoyed it.
We also provide a thorough insight into the military history; visiting numerous battle sites and places of significance along the track where we take time out to pay our repects at these sacred places. Our trek itinerary takes you through beautiful pristine rainforests, across raging rivers, to remote villages and across jungle covered peaks with majestic views.

Most of our treks are scheduled between August and October each year as this avoids the busy periods; is a more favourable time of year weather wise and from a historical significance point of view it coincides with the anniversary of most of the major battles between Kokoda, Isurava and Brigade Hill.
Other dates can be arranged for exclusive groups on request.

Adventuring into unknown territory takes us out of our comfort zone and into the learning zone, where we have the opportunity to test our personal resources and challenge the inner rules that we live by. When we succeed against all odds, we feel like we’ve conquered the world. The truth is we have conquered our fears and our self-imposed limitations.
This one hour presentation takes you right into the thick of the Papua New Guinean jungle; linking the experience of walking the Kokoda Track with valuable lessons on leadership, teamwork and successful living.
